When I read this, I could not help but think about what Yalom might say to that statement. It seems to me that he is overly confident in his practice and might disagree with Hill in that instance. I could be completely mistaken. Nevertheless, in chapter 20 of “The Gift of Therapy” Yalom discusses how his client Martin was annoying even to him and how he did not want to accommodate him. He then realized that is probably what others might think of Martin as well and that Martin really did want to change and Yalom was able to do better work with that realization. Additionally, Yalom mentions throughout the course of the chapters we have been assigned how people tend to come to him after reading his books and that they wonder if they will be good enough clients for him.
