I Want To Become A Veterinarian

Unlike the majority of other applicants or even some of my fellow classmates I did not always know I wanted to be a veterinarian. My aspirations in veterinary medicine developed later in life. When I started college I choose to take a pre-med concentration. I always knew I wanted to help others and encouraged by family I decided to be a medical doctor. While in school, I realized that of all my favorite classes’ where animal based such as comparative anatomy and physiology. I was frequently encouraged by my advisor to switch from a biomedical concentration to a natural science one since, subsequently, all the courses I wanted to take fell under a natural science concentration, such as animal behavior and mammalogy. I want to change this circumstances and in doing so inspire future generations of Hispanic kids to pursue their dreams. I was fortunate enough to have parents who always supported my goals and did whatever they could to help me achieve them. I realize that the path towards becoming a veterinarian is not easy and that simply loving animals is not enough, but I am patient enough to work hard every day and do all the little things necessary right to ensure I achieve my dreams. Throughout my life I have encountered numerous obstacles and every time I have risen above whatever is in front of me. I do not presume to be the smartest or the greatest qualified candidate, but I can guarantee that I will devote every moment of my life to making sure I am the best in my profession. I know when the time comes I will be a good veterinarian and contribute great qualities to the field.
