The side effects of withdrawal are painful and make you feel uncomfortable. Sometimes it even makes people feel like dying because they have to suffer through so much. For example, Nic Sheff from the book “Tweak” went through this prosess several times. During the time explained in the book, Nic says, “All I can do is shiver in bed staring at the ceiling and struggling not to pull my skin off”. This shows just how painful and dredful the process is. The withdrawls were also so bad that he would continue to take drugs so that he wouldn’t have to go through it again after he had relapsed. Nic explained, “Actually, we never stopped taking the Klonopin, Xanax, and Suboxone because otherwise we’d go into withdrawls”. Therefore, it is clear that once the drugs start to leave their bodies, they begin to feel intense pain. This goes well with the song “I feel like dying” by Lil Wayne when he says “Only once the drugs are gone. Then I feel like dying” because when Nic is on drugs, he has no worries in the world and is pretty content with life. However, when he begins to detox, its clear that the pain he and many others go through may lead to someone wanting to die rather than suffer the weeks of detoxification.
