The hunger games is set in the future of North America known as “Panem”, where the capital rules over the twelve districts. The capital is rich in comparison to the twelve districts, where each experience some sort of poverty. During the reaping the capital selects two individuals from each district, one boy and one girl, to participate in the annual hunger games. Katniss Everdeen is a sixteen year old girl from district twelve, which happens to be one of the poorer districts. During the 74th annual hunger games reaping, Katniss’s sister Primrose is selected for the hunger games. Katniss volunteers in her sister's place and is the first ever volunteer for the hunger games. When Katniss and Peeta arrive at the capital every district has to participate in a parade and dress as their district's best industry. District twelves industry is coal mining so for the parade Katniss and Peeta wear an all black suit with synthetic fire that can’t burn them. The day after the parade is the day where all the districts have to go to the training center to prepare for the games. Before the annual hunger games the tributes are interviewed on a talk show in which all of the districts are watching. On the day of the annual hunger games, the tributes are dressed in their uniforms and sent up the tubes into the arena as a clock counts down from thirty. When the games start the tribute’s run for weapons and shelter. The first conflict that Katniss is involved with first is when the gamemakers think she is getting to close to the edge of the arena and start a massive forest fire with fireballs. Katniss is burned pretty badly on her leg and is sent medicine when Haymitch guilt tripped the gamemakers. Eleven of the twenty four tributes die in the first day of the
