In the short story “The Pedestrian” by Ray Bradbury, Bradbury talked about the future and a man. The man, Leonard Mead, is somewhat different from other in the short story because he is all alone by himself in the year 2053. According to the police near the end of the story, society expects no one to be alone and especially walking outside at night. Mr. Mead explained “In the ten year of walking by night or day… he had never met another person walking, not even one in all that time”(Bradbury 49), this show that he is the only one who do not act as society expects to just stay in home with family watching show, news, and other programs. This lead to how he is alone because he told the police that “Nobody wanted me” (Bradbury 51) after the police ask whether he is married or not. To be alone mean that he or she is not wanted by the society based on their action as a non-conformist. Although Tom Leppard and Leonard Mead are adults, they only being a nonconformist toward society, but Jing Mei was still a young teen therefore he could only disobey her
