Masculinity
A high level of masculinity indicates a society driven by competition, accomplishments and success. With high levels of masculinity, success means being among the best in a field. The opposite of masculinity would be femininity. This type of society places more value in caring for others and quality of life. Success in a feminine society is measured by quality of life. (Geert-Hofstede) Both Britain’s and American scored similar. The UK scoring 66 and US scoring a 62. Both cultures are considered masculine. Individuals hold their careers as one of their top priorities. Self-esteem is a large driving force for their success by concentrating on their careers and other achievements outside of working often people become very materialistic and purchase items to show off their status by buying expensive cars, clothing, etc.

This means the British are more inclined to take risks. And be happy to wake up not knowing what the day has instore for them. They do not concentrate on the aspects of life that they cannot change. Instead Britain’s, prefer to rely more on their expertise. They are more inclined to “wing it” without much information or idea on how to do something does not mean you do not try anyways. This is something that would be more disapproved by Americans who would suggest you train more, work more, learn more, or gather more facts before trying something because we frown more upon
