Essay On Judith Resnik

Judith Resnik was an Engineer and a NASA Astronaut. She was born April 5, 1949 in Akron, Ohio. She graduated from Firestone High School. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in 1970, as well as a doctorate’s degree and Master’s in Electrical Engineering from University of Maryland in 1977. In 1984 she received a NASA Space Medal. She was apart of two major NASA Space missions onboard the Space Shuttle Challenger, STS-41-D which took place in 1984 before she received her Medal and as well as STS-51-L which took place on January 28, 1986, the day the Orbiter Challenger exploded after launch killing everyone including Judith Resnik making her death day January 28, 1986. She logged 145 hours. That is equivalent to 8,700 minutes or 522,000 seconds or 6 ½ days. Either way that is pretty impressive almost a week’s worth in space. She was the first Jewish woman in space. She died sadly at the age of 37 years old which happened, because of the Space Shuttle Orbiter Challenger. She aced in Math and Science. She wanted to stay loyal to her father and friends and she did. After graduating from Firestone High School she found that she wanted to be an Engineer so she went Carnegie Mellon University in 1970 and in 1977 she went to University of Maryland. Whilst doing this she also was pushing the rights and showing that women could be Astronauts to. She even did this whilst she was an Astronaut at NASA. She fought very hard and very well not just for Women’s rights, but Jewish Women’s rights as well. Judith Resnik had worked on many different circuit boards whilst she in was college and created new ones as well, not to mention she innovated some of them to, just to do a bit of tweaking here and there.
