To gain more money the king started taxing the people. Instead of taxing the nobles and the people who had money, the king taxed the lowest class, the peasants. Around the same time the prices of bread rose and became a month's worth of pay for one piece. The main purpose of the American Revolution is that the 13 colonies in america were being treated very unfairly from the king in england. The americans wanted the same rights as the british and wanted a part in parliament. Another difference was the treatment of enemies.
