Equality 7-2521 In Ayn Rand's Anthem

In the novel Anthem, written by Ayn Rand, Equality 7-2521 is trying to escape the means of collectivism, which the author writes, "Collectivism holds that the individual has no right, that his right and work belong to the group (to society, to the tribe, the state, the nation) and that the group may sacrifice him at its own whim to its own interests"(Ayn Rand). Equality 7-2521's anthem is his strong personality, and individualism, much like:

In the beginning: Ever have the Teachers and the Leaders pointed to us and frowned and said: "There is evil in your bones, Equality 7-2521, for your body has grown beyond the bodies of your brothers." But we cannot change our bones nor our body (18). This quote is one of many examples of how teachers or leaders had tried to zombify him in ways of either appearance or inner being. Equality 7-2521 has had a mind of his own since he was a child, and that will never be broken. From the story,"' Then, we said," keep silent. This place is ours. This place belongs to us, Equality 7-2521, and to no other men on earth. And if we surrender it, we shall surrender our life with it also"'(34) This shows that he is changing and molding into a resistant character, and not necessarily in a bad way.
In the novel Anthem, Equality 7–2125 escapes the collectivist society and re-envisions his own civilization with the golden one. Prometheus (Equality 7-2521) had the willpower to run away and the Golden One followed him with the quote, "'
