I enjoyed studying history throughout this course because the information was presented in a very interesting way, in the sense that it was more historical analysis than just learning the milestones and events. The analysis part was challenging for me for I feel in a sense it was hard to assume beyond the facts that were presented. Overall, it was interesting to see how the different civilizations grew strong but after sometime they would disappear only to come back meshed with another civilization.

Mostly when I analysed the different historical sources I would pick out examples from the source to support the claim. What was hard for me to do was assume facts, and to let the reading lead me in one direction which should drive me into a deeper understanding of the context of that character’s timeframe. It was hard for me to get into that state of mind, but at the same time I did enjoy the challenge and I hope in the future I can get better at critical analysis.
Through my experiences in History 101, I’m grateful for all the skills I have learned like the basics of critical analysis,utilizing outlines for my writings, and my study of the Epics of Gilgamesh. I look forward to applying these new skills to my future classes to help me be a more productive writer.
