Grendels in my life, and how they have affected me today.
Emotions such as fear, anxiety, depression, and anger are my Grendels. I have to conquer the everyday struggles of these emotions. Just take deep breaths and make yourself calm down. This is how the evil can be defeated.
Fear is one of the most evil emotions that you can experience. It takes over your body and mind. Fear sometimes paralyzes you for a few minutes. I would compare this to Beowulf in that the men of Denmark, Hrothgar’s warriors, were afraid of Grendel and his evil ways. But the heroic Beowulf comes to the rescue, killing Grendel and ripping his arm off.
There are all sorts of evils. The worst of which is anger. Anger can take over your heart, mind, and body. It can control you if you don’t control it first. In the story of Beowulf, Grendel’s mother is angry that Beowulf has defeated Grendel. So, what she does next is brought on by anger. She goes after the epic hero and avenges her son’s death. She is killed by Beowulf in the process. See where anger got her? Lying dead at the bottom of the lake.
In closing, emotions can be just as evil minded as your actions, and the actions that you take are prefixed by the emotions that you are
