Carolyn’s husband and his half brother decided to go to Till's uncle house, and kidnap him at gunpoint. After kidnapping him at gunpoint, Bryant and Milam severely beat Till half to death, and decided to throw his body into the river after they wrapped him in barbed wire .On August 31, 1955, Till's remains were found in the river. His face was unable to be recognized. Till’s mother demanded that her son have an open casket for thousands of people to see what they did to her son. The appalling images of Till’s body in the casket appeared in many of jet magazine which led to his murder becoming a rallying point of the civil right movement. (“Emmett Till“). …show more content…
The day of the trial, Wright identified Bryant and Milam, who were known for kidnapping and murdering Till. Emmett's death became a point in the Civil Rights Movement . It awakened people from all regions of the USA, so people can understand the compromise between blacks and whites . Till’s trial was the first big racial story after Supreme Court's Brown v. Education. In 2004 the federal Bureau of investigation reopened the case although Bryant and Milam were dead. (“Emmett
