The Build When people think of ancient Egyptian times many people picture the Pyramids. To construct such memorials it took a capability of vison, architecture, and social organization. Over 4,000 years later. The Egyptian pyramids still remain much of their dignity, providing a sight into the kingdom’s amusing and famous past. The start of construction, the pyramid buildings were during the beginning of the Old Kingdom. The most common pyramids are the Great Pyramids of Giza. These pyramids are known for their massive distinctive shape and size. There are a total of ten pyramids located in Giza. The largest three pyramids were made for the Pharaohs during the periods of 2600-2500 B.C.E. The largest pyramid was made for King Khufu. The second for King Khafre the son of King Khufu, and the third was made for King Menkaure the son of King Kharfre. It is estimated to have about forty smaller pyramids, where queens would be buried in. The shapes of the pyramids were religious to the Egyptians. Angled sides of the pyramids reminded Egyptians of the rays of the sun which resembled with the sun god Ra. It was aimed to help the king’s soul arise to heaven and joins the gods, predominantly the sun god. The oldest pyramid was constructed around 2630 B.C.E of King Djoser. The step pyramid was constructed for king Djoser, which is a split-level structure raising in six imbalanced stages to a height of sixty meters. Its base measuring a hundred and twenty meters by one hundred eight meters, the structure has a system of underground passages and a room. The key piece of the step pyramid is a central tube that runs twenty five meters deep and eight meters wide. The step pyramid rises with a huge walled court which spread five hundred forty four meters long and two hundred seventy seven meters wide, in which are the leftovers of several stone structures built to supply the needs of the king in the future. High limestone columns remained to make the mastaba rectangular. The insides of dummy temples were packed with rubble. The step pyramid was a real ladder. In which the soul of a dead ruler climbs to the sky, where he would join the gods in the afterlife. Egyptians constructed a system to transport stone for the pyramids and food for the workers by digging canals off the Nile. Local agriculture became the asset to bring the kingdom’s economy together. As their need to keep records of harvest, it led to the discovery of a written language. After five and a half centuries this civilization fell, putting Egypt into chaos. Maybe the bases of the failure were planted in the soil of the civilization that appeared obsessed with the impression that its dead rulers must live forever. On hot sands workers dragged the largest granite blocks on wooden sleds weighing as much as seventy tons to build the pyramids.
