The growing economic disparity, caused by the advancement of the American economy, was further provoked by wealthy politicians, which then created a group of ‘have-nots’ who are taught not to care about political issues because the policy is believed not to affect or matter to them. These inequalities separate the American public and make it difficult to see common interests between people and the government that is supposed to look out for them. A large contributor to this is the amount money involved in politics; it has become a place of the elite. A candidate who raises the most money wins their race almost 90% of the time.
