Early voting in the past years has increased greatly, compared to the year 2000 where most of the eastern part of the country did not allow early voting without an excuse now in the year 2016 only a handful of states still don 't allow early voting without an excuse. The problem with early voting is while more and more states are allowing people to do it freely, they still require people to come in to do the early voting, this has not been liked by many people who are using early voting merely because they will not be around for the actual voting. The need to provide an excuse has made early voting more stressful for people and thus increased the difficulty to vote. Recently early voting has allowed more people to vote and has increased the amount of voting from minorities as well. Most of the early voting is coming from democrats, this has proved very beneficial to democratic candidates like Hillary Clinton and not to good for republican candidates. This is due to the fact that the obama campaign emphasised the strategy of using early voting as a means of increasing their
