I am indecisive about what I want to do with my future and as time is running out, I feel as though I cannot hide behind my undeclared label for much longer. As soon as my English professor posted the advertisement to Early Career Engagement Certificate on our class website, I was compelled to apply. The offerings this program is giving is ideal for my situation and being a part of the Early Career Engagement Certificate experience will help guide me to the right career path.
As I gazed at the stars as a child, it gave me time to ponder how the world worked, and kindled my passion for science. The world of science intrigues me because it ranges from the study of minuscule neurons to the research of the seemingly never-ending universe. My heart has always been set on pursuing a career in science, but I do not know which spectrum I want to settle on. I can see myself in a lab in the future, working on projects and experiments that will help advance our future. However, sometimes I question if science is my calling. I have always been intrigued by the entertainment and media industry as well. Growing up being involved in my brothers’ skits, whether it be starring in it or helping them film, I developed a love for entertainment.

My parents cannot necessarily be of advice in these situations, so I need to seek out additional help. With interests as broad as mine, I know it’s crucial to narrow it down, and I am certain this program is just what I need. As a first-year student, I need to explore my options, so I can confidently choose my major. Early Career Engagement Certificate offers clarity and confidence for students navigating their career path and that's exactly what I need. Through this program, I will be able to embark on a journey of obtaining certainty in the work field I want to work
