Invention Research The invention I decided to write about was the invention that changed the world, and the one that I believe was the most influential in United States History. A telephone is a device that allows for users to have a conversation. It transmits sounds, usually voices, through wire or radio. Bell’s invention was not the first by any means. It was just better and clearer. Alexander Graham Bell, a scientist, inventor, engineer, and innovator, is credited for creating the first ever telephone. He was the founder of AT&T. (American Telephone and Telegraph Company.) Bell was born in Scotland on March 3rd of 1847. He died at age 75 in 1922 due to diabetes complications. Alexander Graham Bell was also a teacher for the deaf. His amazing invention sparked the creation of a huge network throughout all of the United States. It made communication much more effective and more quickly. Before, you would have to send a letter to communicate with someone far away. This could take a few days and more work for everybody. The communication between countries could prevent wars because it enabled instant communication. Although the telegraph was invented before the telephone, the telephone made things much easier. Many people did not understand Morse code back then and it was a difficult thing to learn. The telephone enabled quick and easy instant communication. Without the telephone invention, who knows if there would be cell phones now? The world could be so much different without that small invention.
