Dwyane Wade is a three time NBA Champion, 12 time NBA All-Star, and an Olympic gold medalist just to name a few of his accomplishments. Even with all of these accolades, there was never a straight path to success for Dwyane Wade. He has had to grind and get past many trials to get to where he is today. He is an inspiration to me and many others for things he has done on and off the court.
Dwyane Wade was born on the South Side of Chicago, Illinois, and his upbringing can be said to have been very difficult. Wade has stated that his mom was on drugs and his family was involved in the gang environment. His mom would get high with friends at her home, even her children around. After being moved to live with his dad at the age of eight, things started to change. Wade turned to sports to avoid getting caught up in drugs or any type of gang related activities like many of his family members had done in the past. In his breakout and junior year of basketball Wade averaged 27 points and 11 rebounds per game while leading his team to a 24–5 record. He later committed to Marquette University to play basketball and achieved numerous things there before getting drafted to the Miami Heat in the 2003 NBA Draft. After that it’s all

One of his quotes is “Set your sights high, the higher the better. Expect the most wonderful things to happen not in the future, but right now.” He’s persuading people to take control of their lives and do what they want now and not just wait for it to happen one day in the future. This is important because people tend to be content with how their lives are when they’re just average or have the mindset that one day they’ll have the right resources and be able to make that change or achieve what they want.
