Servant Leader There are multiple aspects that make up a great servant-leader. One who leads by example represents a servant-leader. The leader who physically gets involves with the action shows better leadership qualities. One who just yells out commands, but doesn’t take part in the action with its other members does not properly represent a servant-leader. There are many people that I know that are servant leaders, from an all-star basketball player to an everyday firefighter. These people without a doubt would rise up to the occasion and take part in whatever the case may be. A servant-leader is one who serves first then leads by example. After one has served, leadership will be presented. “He is sharply different from the person …show more content…
He is my favorite basketball player on the Miami Heat. He is going to go down has one of the greatest players of all time. Luckily, I have gotten the chance to see him play live. On the court he is an exceptional leader. He is teaching and guiding the younger players in the right direction. He knows that without him the team would be nothing and without the surrounding players he wouldn’t be Dwyane Wade. Both the servant-leader and the people around him play a huge role in achieving their goal. Dwyane Wade doesn’t have to stay late after practice and show the rookies new skills. He doesn’t have to because he has already proven to himself and everyone else how great he is. However, he chooses to be a part of theses younger player’s lives. He wants to be a part of their journey just as much as they do. Dwyane Wade also serves the community with his organization. He has all the money in the world, but still takes part in helping society out. Another example of a servant-leader is my neighbor. He is a firefighter. Firefighters often times can be labeled as a servant-leader because they put their bodies at risk for the life of someone else. However this firefighter in particular is on the verge of retirement. Through his career he has saved people’s lives. He once told me that one of the best part of his job is taking other firefighters under his wing and guiding them to be a great firefighter like he once was. He finds joy in sharing his success with others who put in hard work like he does. These two individuals are two people that I can look up

The people served grow as individuals, becoming 'healthier, wiser, more autonomous and more likely themselves to become servants' (Greenleaf, 1977).…
