Dugout Monologue

Improved Essays
That rusty and dirt like smell of the dugout makes entering the dugout worth it.
“Wassup homie!”, yells Avery.
“I’m ready to win,” I answer.
“Same,” Avery says.
“Let’s do our thing,” Aspen says. We all go outside of the dugout and circle up, with our arms around each other.
“HEAT, HEAT, HEAT, HEAT,” we yell
“Heat on three. One. Two. Three. HEAT,” We scream. With sore throats and messy hair, we hustle to the dugout;

“Balls in,” yells the ump. I back up second for the throwdown as Alex tags out the pretend runner.

The first pitch she drove the ball over the pitcher's head and to center field. The center feldman missed the ball and Little Abby got to third and Ryleigh scored. “Atta baby,” our dugout screamed as we congratulated Ryleigh for scoring. Alex was batting next. I could tell that she was tense, so did the pitcher. She watched as all three perfect meatballs go right past her. She was the first out. Solle was up to bat next. She entered the box calmly, giving the pitcher the Michael Phelps stank face. The pitcher did her windup and pitched a strike to Solle. Solle hits a hard grounder to shortstop. Solle was thrown out at first. “Your good kid, shake it off,” I told Solle. “ I know,” she said. “I was so scared Kayla” “Honestly, I thought you were calm” I replied. “It will all be okay” I told Solle while I gave her a
