Officers are people who drive the band and keep everyone going, no matter how big or small the job is. Even though all the officers of the bad have different jobs there is one thing that they all have in common; leadership. A person with good leadership skills should be able to take the responsibility and learn to stop thinking about themselves, but the band as a whole. They also need to be punctual, supportive, optimistic, and enthusiastic. Two officer positions that I should be considered for and show these traits the best in are both the drum major and uniform captain.
The Drum Major is a very important aspect of a marching band’s success. For example, the Drum Major is to act as a supervisor and assistant to the other band leaders and officers, all while being a responsible role model that maintains their positive attitude towards others. I should be considered for Drum Major due to my ability to mirror the traits and qualities needed for the position.

The band as a whole is looking up you and see you as a leader, which means you need to become that responsible and reliable role model needed. I feel like I have already possessed these traits and would excel in this area. As an older sister and aunt, I have experience in having to be a role model for others. In the past, I have had to take in consideration of how I make decisions and how they would affect those in my family that are younger than me. For example, I am one role model that my little brother has to look up to as an example. Therefore, I have to make sure I make responsible decisions in my life, rather it is to respect and obey those higher than me or just simply pick up a piece of trash off the floor. All of these decisions, big or small, are the things that those that see you as a role model may look

I believe myself to be outspoken enough to command band members to dress to one another, yet not too intimidating as to drain the fun out of the process. Since freshman year, I have improved upon my dressing to forms and getting to the right dot at the right time and having participated in theater has augmented my appreciation for correct spacing and saying true to the drill written in our drill books. I would love to see both underclassmen and upperclassmen improve upon their marching skills and ability to make forms and I would be honored to help them do so. As a brass captain, I feel as though I would benefit the band because I am enthusiastic and would encourage the brass put forth 100% effort toward every warm-up and play-through of the music. I would be sure to emphasize nuances of the music in rehearsal, such as dynamic changes and accent marks because I believe that a musical performance--no matter the ensemble--is not truly successful without genuine expression.…

The outdoor setting of marching band fosters the flashiness and untamed passion required to make an emotional bond with far-away audiences. Each year in my marching band, I embraced the opportunities to learn new show tunes and skills for front ensemble, bass drum, snare drum, and then tenor drums. My love for marching band has influenced my personal musical selections. My favorite band is the funky brasshouse trio, Too Many Zooz. I would love to form a musical group while in college.…

I now had the title of section leader in the band, and was also an upperclassmen of the football team. It wasn’t exactly as easy as it seemed from those of the past. The sophomores thought they knew everything just because they had been there one year before, and the freshman thought they were hot shit for making it through middle school. It was painful to witness the underclassmen of football only squat halfway down, or the underclassmen of band march out of time, and have your advice go in one ear and right out the other. I decided that I needed some type of legitimacy as a leader.…

A section leader has to be a good teacher to instruct the rookies and if really needed then returning marchers. Humbleness is an important quality of a leader because being a section leader does not mean you are the best and you are higher than others; all it means is that Mr. Oubre gave it to you. Compassion because this are just kids, and this is just marching band, also you want to build friendships not dominance. One would need confidence because a section leader should set the example for the section and play loud and proud. Section leaders need respect from their peers because nobody listens to somebody they do not respect, especially if that person is a high schooler.…

Playing the leadership roles in these organizations will help me in the future because a characteristic a lawyer must have is leadership. I must be able to make wise decisions and as the drum major, when the band director is not present I must step up and be able to know what the next move is. Leaders must also set the example. I set the example for my fellow band, National Honor Society, and student council, members. I set the example by maintaining good grades, behavior, and character.…

But, it’s not just the previous drum majors I was influenced by; Nick, Michael, Vy, Mr. Sebastian, and my wonderful section leader Sarah also inspired me too. However, many previous drum majors had set the standards at a high level and it's my privilege and responsibility to maintain the tradition but at the same time help the band improve through words of encouragements. Even though I may not have a recognizable leadership position prior to this, one reason out of many reasons why I would be a successful leader is that I am very understanding with the people I’m working with. I know how to deal with problems that band members usually face because I was in the same position as they were, therefore, I will try my best to help them with any problems they might have as well as constantly learning from my fellow bandos to make self improvements. My goal is to motivate and inspire every member to keep pushing and practicing because if they strive for it, they will become successful.…

This genre of music exists in partnership with other forms of rock and roll, such as garage rock, psychedelic rock, punk, and grunge music. These forms of music are under the umbrella term “Hard rock” in order to distinguish them from more radio-friendly music like pop rock ("Hard Rock"). Hard rock is intensely subjective to blues music.…

Bongo drums, usually just called bongos, are one of the most recognizable of percussion instruments. Due to the pervasive popularity of Latin music (thank you, "Dancing With the Stars"), the sounds of these little drums are familiar to people around the world. Bongos, as the name implies, always come in attached sets of two. One drum is slightly bigger than the other; the larger is the "hembra" (the Spanish word for "female), while the smaller is the "macho" (the Spanish word for "male"). Bongo drums are capable of a great deal of versatility and their music is usually upbeat and rapid.…
