Dreams are a major part of the novel George's and Lennie's dreams were to buy their own ranch and not have to work for a boss. You can see this in the last chapter lennie wanted to tend the rabbits since the idea of a ranch came into their head George Candy and Lennie were striving towards their goal but george had to kill lennie so now there plans are ruined. On page 103 george and lennie say “for the rabbits” said lenie “for the rabbits” george repeated “and I tend the rabbits” “an’you get to tend the rabbits” the author is showing how badly the characters want to reach there dreams. Curley's wife also almost reached her dream but her old lady made her lose everything on page eighty eight curley's wife says “I could have gone with that show, the man told me, but my ol lady wouldn't le me” The readers can see here that curley's wife was close to become famous but her old lady ruined everything for her. Dreams are a major part of the story Of Mice and Men and lots of subjects revolve around them and that even though how close you are to dream everything can collapse in front of you.
