In this paper, I am going to talk a brief history overview of Dr. Louis Michael the physician as strategic manager case study, and then I will discuss the stakeholders. I will provide the primary problems and other key issues that attribute to primary problems. After, I will provide the alternative solutions of key issues and specify the steps for implementing a plan of action. In summary, I will give recommendations and ideas, which I think could help the practice success.

In this case, there are three main problems. First problem, Dr. Lou did not enough staff members. Second, the location is getting surround with other large hospitals. Third, he lacked knowledge on business site. Moreover, Dr. Lou and his staff members were always busy in the office and he usual close late. More physicians were coming into the area and served as consultants to hospital patients admitted by other staff. Also, the physicians could affect the length of time a patient stay in the hospital. The hospital technology made it possible to complete different services on same day. Dr. Lou’s partner was leaving the practice because of his practice was going down. Dr. Lou needs business experience to compete with other physicians around him. To solve these problem, Dr. Lou needs to hire more staff member for his practice which would give him time to focus on patient care. For example, he needs to hire someone to help him with his practice regulations and marketing. If he goes back to school for industrial medicine, he will not have time for his patients as usual, and his patients would go someone else for treatments. On this case, he needs to look for a partner who is specialize on industrial medicine. Also, he needs to compete with other hospital by using Porter’s five forces method (Peter M. Ginter, 2013). He needs to start offer some discount to his patients, getting more technology as other physician to service more patients, charging same amount as other physicians. He needs to use mindtools action plan by identify tasks, analyze and delegate tasks and double -check with SCHEMES (Actiona Plan Small-Scale Planning). First, he needs to put all tasks that he needs to complete together. Second, he needs to analyze and delegate tasks by putting all information he is going to use together and how he is going to use it.
