Donald Trump grew up in a traditional family. His father worked away from home and his mother was at home with the children. The family lived a simple life with the kids close and very interactive. Trump says that he was a leader in play and mischief in the neighborhood initiating for others while having an assertive and aggressive personality. When he was thirteen years old his dad decided to send him to military school because he thought it would be “Good for him.” Because of his father occupation Donald wanted to follow right in his footsteps and while in college he was reading reality listings and foreclosures. Very soon he was involved with his father in their joint venture buying a 1,200 apartment development in Cincinnati, Ohio. It was a government foreclosure that had been a disaster but Trump talks about “A terrific opportunity” for he and his father. This work with his father was the beginning of his own personal success. He taught him how to be tough and about real estate as a tough business. He learned how to deal with people and work smart and efficiently. He wanted to be like his father in many ways but wanted to build something more glamorous than his father had done, but he always wanted to be known as Fred Trumps son. Fred was always willing to work and to do a good job. He started his own company and named it after his mother because she is the one who had to sign the papers because he was too young. He started out by building small moderately priced brick homes. Then he went to a more affluent market. After the depression Fred’s instincts for buying cheap land and small houses helped him get back on top. He saw that the children were brought knowing the value of a dollar. Donald has helped and supported both of his children just as his dad supported him.
