Today, technology is crucial to day to day living. People use technology in order to make their life easier and better. Social media is one part of technology that improves the education system. According to Don Tapscott’s video (VDO), he talked about students’ uses of social media for learning, his experience an education, and how the education system works. Moreover, he gave the explanation of two generations that are influenced by social media. According to Don’s speech, he provided a brief explanation about digital natives and digital immigrants by using himself, his children, and his recent studies. Digital natives are a generation of people who were born after the baby boomer generation. They are familiar with using technology in their …show more content…
Joe is a talented students and knowledgeable person. He had a good grade in school and was a student class leader. He did not go to lecture classes, but he understood the main idea of each chapter and collaborated with others by using social media. Moreover, according to the VDO, Don gave an example of learning by using social media in class. Students can collaborate by going online and discussing the information with classmate.
To conclude, Digital native and digital immigrant are different. They have their own way of thinking, and performing. Education system is one part of the areas that affects by the changing of human generation with technology. Now, digital native become the student in the school and they integrate social media to help them learning. Teachers and schools may have to understand this change and embrace it.
According to Don’s VDO and “ Digital Native vs. Digital Immigrants” paper in chapter two, in my opinion, I agree with Don that there are a difference of doing task and consuming between digital immigrant and digital native, and the using social media enhances students’ ability in

They have their own learning ability which different from their parent. According to the “Education Insights” paper, digital native use social media to enhance their communication and help them to collaborate with others. For example, my classmates never read every page in a books to understand the subject. They go online to understand the general concept in a google, and find technical detail in a textbooks. Moreover, if they do not understand something in a book, he will discuss with others by using online website. They told me that it helps them to understand the subject better and faster than reading the whole book because the language and the information online is processed information. As a result, they always have time to do other activities and still earn a good grade. In my opinion, according to the “How Social Media Can and Should Impact Higher Education” papers, in order to use social media efficiency, students should obtain some specific ability such as critical consumption.
