What is happening? Our world is overrun with technology, and it is developing with incredible speed. At this time, the teenagers have become addicted to technology, and they are constantly immersed in technological advancements that promote non-stop communication and instant gratification, whether through cell phones, gaming systems, laptops, or MP3 players. Are these technological advancements a good thing? In “Don’t Limit Your Teen’s Screen Time”, Chris Bergman states the reasons why don’t need to limit teenagers’ screen time with his personal experience. In my opinion, I disagree with the author; the teenagers’ screen time should be limited. Screen time is useless for developing social skills; also, the teenagers still need parents’ guidance. …show more content…
Chris Bergman states the kids can develop and give full play to their social skills in the screen time, and even build stable relationships. However, screen time actually detracts from the teenagers the communication abilities of society. Video game is one of the good examples; when some teenagers indulge in video games, and they spending less time talking to people around them because playing games doesn’t require the teenagers to speak, and they just stare at the screens and even without saying a word during the time. Similarly, behind the computer and cell phones screens, most people speak out freely. Most online teenager users think they can make more friends by sharing common interests in the virtual community. Moreover, when they leave the community, and they cannot overcome a sense of isolation of the real world; in other words, teenagers the ability to communicate with people is becoming extinct. The teenagers simply don’t know how to start and hold a conversation. To be honest, I had also addicted to watching TV and playing computer when I was in junior high school.
