Regardless of age, gender, and ethnicity the vast majority suffer from anxiety if they lose their phone, even if just for a few minutes. According to researchers at California State University, people are becoming physically dependent on their laptops, smartphones, and smartwatches. People are showing responses such as tingling skin and increased heart rates when their device’s sound notification alerts. Moreover, people will grow more anxious over time if they don't take a look at their screens. When you are obsessed with social media and smart devices, there is a possibility of losing touch with the actual world around you. Aside from disturbing our social life and relationship, they also have psychological and health impacts on us. On the other hand, social media and technology devices are very powerful tools, and if they are used wisely they can help us a lot. People can get various information, stay in contact with friends, connect with people, finish some job, and sometimes have fun. Citizens are lost in this world that is based on fake values, and while being lost they are misusing technology. The majority impose standards and things that must be in the way they have imagined and people blindly follow that. It’s all on us and on how we chose to use it. The more we find balance between both the more we get positive outcomes from both

Rhetorical Analysis On How Not To Be Alone The essay “How Not to be Alone” by Jonathan Safran Foer backs up the idea that sometimes technology brings people closer by being able to communicate with someone across the globe with a touch of a button but at the same time technology separates people because in some cases we now prefer to text someone instead of actually meeting them in real life. Foer develops his claim by referring to experiences in his past, making comparisons to the present and to the past, also by stating the positive and negative impact that technology has had on people. The use of emotional strategies is effective because Foer is able to make a connection with the reader who has gone through the same situations that Foer is explaining .…

Maria Konnikova agrees when she writes, “Isn’t it easier to have more friends when we have Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to help us cultivate and maintain them?” in her article “The Limits of Friendship” (237). She addresses an important question, does social media make it easier to have more friends? Her question also encompasses the idea of whether more friends on social media can help with people’s boredom or if it takes in-person interaction to cure this feeling. The answer to both of these are, simply, that having more friends on social media does not help people feel any less bored, and does not help them develop any personal relationships to help them feel a group identity.…
