UConnect Hacking Recall
Following a well-publicized hacking of a Jeep over the Internet and the hackers taking control of the same, Fiat Chrysler issued a recall involving 1.4 million cars and trucks. Among the affected models were the 2014 and 2015 Dodge Durango.
Not all vehicles were affected, just those with the 8.4-inch touch-screen tied in with its Uconnect infotainment system. The hackers were able to change the Jeep’s speed and take control of other features, including the brakes and transmission.
Affected Dodge Durango owners can first check if their system is ready for a software update by entering their 17-character vehicle identification number (VIN) on the company’s recall page. For those covered, Fiat Chrysler supplies a USB drive for updating the software.
