For our final project in Business Statistics, we chose to pose the question, “What affects one’s enjoyment of Saint Joseph’s College?” In other words, are there direct correlations between things like gender and school year and one’s enjoyment of SJC? We though perhaps one’s gender might affect how much they enjoyed SJC – perhaps females enjoyed their time at this institution more than males. Or, we thought we might find that the number of clubs involved in would directly correlate to differences in a student’s enjoyment of SJC. We asked several questions in our survey. When creating this survey, we brainstormed a number of different questions that we thought we might want to ask. After we had complied a list of nearly 20, we slimmed it down …show more content…
By this, we allowed ourselves to search for results by major, by gender, by club involvement, and by each way possible. As a total from all 104 responses, we calculated that the average answer to our question, “Rate your time at SJC on a scale of 1-10” was 7.23. This meant that the average amount of enjoyment from our sample, on a scale of 1-10, was 7.23. This is very close to what we were guessing would be the average (7). The results, though, became much more specific than that. By gender, we calculated the level of enjoyment of SJC students. From our sample, we concluded that girls had an enjoyment level of 7.10, while males had an enjoyment level of 7.31. As you can see, compared to the total sample average of 7.23, girls had an enjoyment level below the total average, while males had an enjoyment level about the total average. This was interesting to us because it was the simplest question on our survey, simply, “What is your gender” but it concluded in results that were not as close as what we had
