There are many causes of death in America; some that Are preventable and some that are not under ones control. Over 3,000 people die every year from distracted driving and not just texting. Distracted driving includes playing with the radio, doing ones make up, looking to talk to friends, and even taking a sip from ones drink. Americans have about 400,000 accidents each year. Among the 400,000 about One fourth of the accidents are from texting and driving. This means that most of these accidents are from teenagers because they are always more prone to use their phone. Many teenage drivers are informed at a young age that driving safely is very important. Although some states do have hefty fines for distracted driving teens still don’t have …show more content…
Of course some states are stricter than other; for example in some states such as Florida texting and driving is only a secondary offense while in states such as Texas it is a primary offense. According to an article published By Fox29 “A bill making its way through the New Jersey legislature takes distracted driving to new heights.” The bill, if passed will require fines upwards of $400 for drinking beverages while driving. The fine is a little absurd which is why many people in Texas are out raged at the fact this bill might pass. Although drinking a beverage while driving isn’t that distracting it can hinder the drivers ability to see the road because usually as one Takes a drink their chin rises which diverts their eyes upwards. There have been many campaigns and advertisements that talk about how dangerous distracted driving is. Sometimes these methods work but most of the time they don't because they never catch the viewers attention; in this case teenagers.
