Organic analogy is the base on which functionalistic perspective is constructed on. Through this it is stated that a society as a whole has different institutions which has its own functions. Parsons is bringing out the importance of family in socialization, but this was not accepted by Durkheim (he in fact felt that schools were the important place of socialization). Parsons state that schools and educational institutions are the main binding forces of family and society, which prepares the children for their life. Parsons uses his work on “pattern variable” to bring out this which talks about the society and community. In this he uses “Particularism” and “Universalism” to study the importance of education. In a Particularistic manner he states that the family has a role and this provides that the family does not universalise the child’s behaviour. In Universalistic point of view the child is looked at with the other children in the society. The education is seen as that universalistic point which leads to the development of a child in the society. In the present day, it is the school that a child learns about his or her surroundings and understands the needs of the
