The Bill of Rights wasn’t the only problem the antifederalist had with this new constitution. The Federalist were made up of mostly elitist bankers and business owners. This caused the antifederalist to think that the federalist would only look out for the rich and powerful leaving the rural areas and lower class unrepresented. The antifederalist wanted the government to be locally ran and the power be left in the states hands so that it would guarantee that taxation without representation would not occur (Berkin, 2015).
With most of the antifederalists coming from the lower class and rural farming areas the fear was that the elitist Federalist could not understand the day to day struggles or needs that the antifederalist faced in their lives and wouldn’t represent them in congress appropriately.
