Living in the life of Anne Frank is a lot harder than you think. Sitting in the annex for two years worrying that someone heard you. But having many people to support you through hard times helped Anne live in the annex before her tragic death. The Diary of Anne Frank play was written by Albert Hackett and Frances Goodrich. Anne’s family, the Van Daans and Mr. Kaler were forced to move into a secret annex in Amsterdam because they thought it was safe. They lived in the secret annex for two years before the Nazi’s captured them and took them to the concentration camps. They all had times where they didn't have hope, but in the end they all needed hope to live and always hoped they would be able to leave the annex.
Anne Frank is very hopeful the whole play. In the book on page 116 Anne says “I think myself on a walk in park where I used to go with Pim”. Anne knows that she is stuck in the annex. and can’t even go outside to play til the war is over. So she tries to imagine what it would be like if she could go anywhere anytime. Anne is always trying to stay positive about any situation throughout the play. Also on page 38 Anne says “I’d cut my throat! I’d open my veins! I’m going to be remarkable! I’m going to Paris...”. On page 119 Mr. Frank “ For the past two years we lived in fear. Now we can live in hope” -Mr. Frank pg. 119. Even though that they are being sent to concentration camps Mr. Frank is stilling trying to give hope to the group saying they will be okay. Knowing they will maybe get killed. Also that they have lived there for two years, hiding and scared to make a
