Their two main types of Diabetes. Type 1, our pancreases make too little or no insulin. Insulin is a hormone produced in the pancreas by cells that are called Beta cells, and by our pancreas not producing enough or no insulin, glucose start to build up in the bloodstream instead of the cells. Type 1 diabetes can occur at any age. It is most often to be diagnosed in children, adolescents, or young adults. Type 2 diabetes is the worst. One can have type 2 diabetes for months or even years and we may not know. One of the best things to do is have a blood test every 1 to 3 months or so, too keep track of our glucose levels. Type 2 diabetes is when cells don’t use insulin the correct way. Pregnant women can also be at a high risk of developing diabetes while being pregnant this would be called Gestational Diabetes. One needs to take care of themselves no one is going to take care of you, it is up to one to make a difference by watching what we eat and making the right choice of heating healthy and exercising. I was shocked by the reaction of the people that were around me. They were very surprised, many people where asking questions and they were very interesting, for example I remember a lady asking. “If we take care of our self’s right now, will we still be at a high risk of being diagnosed with diabetes in the future?” In my opinion the speaker did a great job, she was very nice by answering all the questions that were being asked. She also was very informative she opened roads that one didn’t know about by giving her presentation. I also saw by the way that she presented and talked to us, that she has a passion for what studied. Mayra made things look simple when it came to explaining how things function in our body. I like these types of events because they inform us students about the things we need to take care of to be healthy. If I could I would encourage all STC students and faculty to go to these types of events. I believe that STC should
