Executive Summary
The burden of diabetes is more prevalent among minorities than the white population. While minorities are more likely than whites to be diagnosed with diabetes, the rates of difficulties differ by disease and minority group. Diabetes is detrimental among the Black, Latino, and Native American populations. Diabetes is the sixth leading cause of death and the United States. This chronic disease is due to high blood glucose levels simply known as hyperglycemia.
