Descriptive Essay: The Kindred Baseball Diamond

Decent Essays
The smell of the freshly cut grass and newly painted lines, there’s just nothing like it. The Kindred baseball diamond is one of my favorite places. The field just feels like a second home. I love everything that is at the Kindred baseball diamond, the smells and the sights after the sun starts to set. There are many scents to smell at the Kindred baseball diamond all most all the scents are very good. One scent that isn’t very pleasant is sometimes when you can smell the waste holding pond. The other scents such as the freshly cut grass, the watered down sand, and the smell of the pine trees behind the baseball diamond are all very great scents to smell. One of my best memories was made on the Kindred baseball diamond. Also, some of my closest

In the beginning of the 1960s, it seemed to be the dawn of a golden age, but by the end of the 60’s many Americans thought the nation was falling apart. The JFK assassination, Vietnam war, fights for civil rights, racial tensions, radical students, and the MLK assassination were main events that took place in the 60’s that made many Americans fear the worst for our nation. In the middle of all the hate, crime, and death were 16 major league baseball teams fighting for a championship, not caring what was going on in the rest of the country. While America seemed to be falling apart, baseball was on the rise, and having what most people would say its own golden age.…

Baseball: the sport where you stand around for 20 minutes and move 3 feet to the left and move 3 feet to the right. It’s so intense. It’s so intense that you could take a nap on the field with everything out there. Of course, I’m being sarcastic. The only time it’s actually fun is when you’re annihilating the other team while they’re asleep on the field.…

The baseball diamond has a magical effect on my emotions, which produce so much energy it seems to take over my body and mind. I’ll never forget my first baseball glove and bat. It was spring time in 1983, the snow had finally melted, robins were singing on bare tree branches and the maple trees were blooming. My father took me into town driving our Burgundy 1980 Chevy Malibu Classic. As we parked the car, I asked my dad” what are we doing here”?…

“Nice swing,” hollers Jeremy, my softball coach, as he places another ball into the pitching machine (6). One after another, I can hear the nice sound of the crack of my bat as I drill line drives up the middle. “Let’s end on a good hit,” Coach calls out. He puts the ball in the machine and I take a vigorous swing. The ball flies with power straight over my coaches head.…

My very first baseball game I can remember it like it was yesterday. A hot sunny day Burning the pavement, the heat beating down on our car as we drive to downtown Houston. After three exhausting hours and two tire blowouts we finally arrived at Minute Maid Park the home of the Houston Astros, my first baseball game. Once we got past the security line we were free to go to our seats which were located in the middle of first and home. We got there about half an hour before the game started so the batters were out in the batting cage crushing the ball with a mighty swing, I was hypnotized by how gracefully they moved their…

Some people’s life revolve around the beautiful American pastime called baseball. People play baseball, coach baseball, watch baseball, and sometimes they even make references to baseball through metaphors. Back in the 1950’s, racial tensions between blacks and whites were high. Baseball legend, Jackie Robison, had recently become the first African American to break the color barrier in the Major Leagues, yet many people still failed to see black athletes as equals to white athletes, regardless if they were more talented. In the play.…
