Dentistry Personal Narrative

The initial exposure to taking dentistry as a prospective career path came from my personal experience. My interest in dentistry started as a young age. In America, most parents would stop their toddlers using milk bottles by the age of two. With a limited knowledge that constantly sucking milk bottle could change the position of my adult teeth down the line, my parents let me use milk bottle instead of a cup until I was ten. I was only fifth grade but I was always aware of my classmates made fun of the fact I am “overbite” or “bunny teeth”.
Throughout my childhood years, I had always thought that I had perfect family. However, I realized that it was not true during my early middle school years when my mother and father began having marital problems. It was a difficult time for all of us when my father filed bankruptcy, especially for me academically. Before everything fell apart, my parents were able to afford an orthodontic treatment. Le Saab’s dental office. I was told that I had decay spreading quite quickly under my crowns because of the previous orthodontist did not fill my cavities. It weakened the underlying foundation leading the crown falling out and my gums got infected. Dr. Le Saab suggested the dental implant. Dr. Le Saab explained thoroughly the procedure step by step. I gained experience throughout my dentist. Talking to her inspired me, and I developed a deep interest in her work and the positive effects. One thing I learned is that the career of dentistry is not an easy path to pursue. Being a dentist requires countless of human interactions and critical thinking skills that take perseverance and confidence to have on a daily basis.
