For my last day of clinic, I worked on Jeffrey Rodriguez. He lives in NYC, and I was very happy he was willing to come to Connecticut, so I could treat him. Patient stated is last dental cleaning was three years ago, had a PA taken two years ago because he had pain on tooth # 18, but he dentists did not found anything wrong with that tooth. Also, he was aware of the stain and calculus he had on the lingual aspect of the mandibular anterior sextant and had tried to remove it at home, but was not successful. After going through his medical and dental history, I assessed that he is a healthy patient, and does not present any condition that can put him in jeopardy during treatment. Since he manifested that he brushes once a day, started recently to floss 3x a week, and have a diet high on sugar and soft drinks; I consider that he would benefit from having some radiographs taken. He stated his wisdom teeth were not erupted, so we decided to take a panoramic radiograph, 4 HBW, and a PA of tooth # 18. While taking his HBW, I found some RL on teeth #’s 14, 15, and 16, and decide to take two PA’s of the area to check for any periapical lesion in relation to those teeth. While doing is restorative charting, and reviewing his radiographs I found RL area in tooth # 3, as well between teeth #’s 4 and 5. His existing amalgam restorations on teeth #’s 18 and 31 need to be evaluated and replace. After completing his perio assessment I found generalized …show more content…
My patient agreed with all, and after showed him the before and after photos, I reinforced OHI. My recommendations were to lower the intake of sugar, brush at least 2x a day, floss daily, and use mouth rinse daily as well. I gave patient a referral to have the proper dental work done during the
