Definition Essay On Perfection

Perfection. What is perfection in the lords eyes? Well the basic definition would be having all the desired elements, or being as good as possible. The word perfect itself is translated from the hebrew word tamiym (taw-meem) can be translated as upright, without spot, complete to name a few. We know that perfection is extremely hard to accomplish if not impossible however it is interesting to note that god declared some people to be perfect including Noah in Gen 6:9, and Job in Job 1:1. We are often told that the lord will make us perfect after we have done all that we can do. As it says in Helaman 14:17 “the resurrection of Christ redeemeth mankind, yea, even all mankind, and bringeth them back into the presence of god”. And in Alma 7:13 “Now the Spirit knoweth all things; nevertheless the son of god suffereth according to the flesh that me might take upon him the sins of his people, …show more content…
God knows that we cannot make it to higher levels of glory without some form of forgivness of sin and he designed repentance in such a way that we can attain a good enough level of perfection for god to pick us up and complete the process making a perfectly good individual. Lets get back to the Hebrew definition of tamiym, one of the translations is whole, or complete. And I personally believe this to be of significance, what then is somebody who has not achieved tamiym are they possibly missing some part of their spiritual being? Perhaps we were designed specifically to attain perfection and without perfection we simply aren’t fulfilled as much as we can be. I am getting into a more theoretical view of the scriptures and I may be wrong in some things so I believe it is best for me to stop there before I begin making mistakes. In the name of Jesus Christ

The angels symbolize Jesus as the only way to Heaven. As the blood ran from His face, the thunder roared the sky grew dark, and the earth trembled before Jesus died. Repentance is another important factor in achieving redemption. It is more spiritual than asking for forgiveness for things you have wrongfully done. God has to be put first and there has to be a change of heart. There has to be willingness to abort any sin and admit their faults, then emotional peace can be achieved. Individuals are neither born good or evil, but display equal capability for both.…

Perfect is something you can quite put your finger on, it changes from person to person from age to age from religion, ethnicity, where you're from it all depends on something and you will never be able to reach it. Maybe perfect to a baby is getting a nice nap but for a teenager it could be getting a good grade on a test. The vision of perfect is forever changing before you can even get a good look at it. That's why trying to make the world perfect is impossible because there is so many opinions from so many people all over the world you will never be able to reach everyone's perfect by the time its run away and completely changed itself to a whole new thing. The Bible tells us to be perfect as our Heavenly Father is perfect, Matthew 5:48. On the other hand Romans 3:23 reminds us that man falls short of the glory of God. While only God is holy and separated from all evil, we as humans are created with a conscience which allows us to distinguish right from wrong. Additionally, we are given a set of commandments to guide us through our decisions. Although we cannot ever attain perfection, Jesus reminds us throughout scripture that as we seek to know God our flesh becomes one with His word.…

“Through the Holy Spirit, we are enabled to increase in the knowledge and love of God and in love for our neighbor” (Book of Discipline ¶102 51). Repentance, justification, and regeneration are the beginning of God’s salvific work that continues as our faithful response to God’s sanctifying grace moves us ever closer to the image of Christ. Randy Maddox calls this the “gradual spiritual recovery of the likeness of God” (Maddox 177). As we remain obedient to Christ and practice the means of grace, we continue to grow in grace with the goal of “entire” sanctification or “Christian perfection.” Whereas justification releases us from the penalty of sin, God’s sanctifying grace saves us from the power of…
