If you tickle us do we not laugh? If you poison us do we not die? And if you wrong us shall we not revenge?” The author’s perspective of getting revenge is overt in the play Romeo and Juliet. When Mercutio and Tybalt begin to fight, Romeo attempts to intervene. But, while Romeo is trying to calm them down, Tybalt’s temper gets the best of him and he stabs Mercutio through an opening in Romeo’s arms. Furious, Romeo grabs a sword and stabs Tybalt to avenge his friend’s injury. After Romeo kills Tybalt, he immediately regrets his actions when he discovers he has been banished from the city of Verona. “There is no world without Verona walls, But Purgatory, torture, Hell itself” says Romeo. The concoction makes Juliet appear to be dead, however, she is actually in a very deep sleep. When the Capulets’ nurse finds Juliet inanimate in her room, the family immediately holds a funeral service for Juliet and places her body in the tomb.
