The slaves didn’t know how important coffee and sugar were to Europe but they did know that they were forced to work and were beaten so Europe would have these things. While Europe kept taking slaves though, America had been depopulated to they could plant these things and Africa had been depopulated so they could get slaves to work on these plantations. These slaves were worked in all weathers. It was never too hot or too cold. It could never rain, blow, hail or snow too hard for them to be in the field. When America received these slaves to work on the plantations, they sent there goods to Europe. (Document 6)
The slave trade had affected other colonies too. King Kongo wanted to stop the slave trade of Portuguese to Kongo’s, because even though the king of Portugal is benefitting from slavery king Kongo’s is not. Portugal’s people were given permission to go to Affonzo’s land and sell things, but Affonzo’s land prohibits the things they sell. This badly affects the security of their kingdom.
