David's Irreparable Mistakes In The Epic Of Gilgamesh

Decent Essays
I, Gilgamesh, believe that David made a few irreparable mistakes. He should’ve been more manly and fought Saul, his king, in combat instead when Saul became mad. When Enkidu defeated me in combat I said, “you have proved full well that you are child of a goddess and that heaven itself has set you on your throne. I shall no longer oppose you. Let us be friends.” Through defeating me, Enkidu was able to convince me of his and earn my respect. Saoul was angry with David but if David were to defeat him in combat their relationship could’ve been improved and Saul would still be in his rightful place as king. If their relationship had been smoothed over then Saul would never have thrown the javelin. Another mistake David made was to take the throne.
