Dante Alighieri
“From a little spark may burst a flame-Dante Alighieri”("Dante Alighieri Quotes."). Dante Alighieri’s life experiences affected his writing. The way Dante’s life was affected in his writing was that he used people in the real world that he knew personally and made them a character in one of his poems. Such as Virgil, the ancient roman as his guide in Inferno ("Dante."). Beatrice, his love of his life also being a guide for him through heaven in Paradiso ("Dante."). Also, Virgil and Beatrice again are in the poem Purgatorio as a guide, where they climb and journey through The Mountain Purgatory ("Dante."). And then there is the poem The New Life where Dante expresses his love and thoughts about Beatrice and how she was such …show more content…
He used close friends as well as himself as a character in this poem. His friend being Virgil an ancient Roman poet of the Augustan period. In the poem Virgil and Dante Alighieri climb The Mountain of Purgatory while Virgil is the guide for Dante at the beginning. Towards the end through Dante's inspiration and love Beatrice takes over and guides Dante for the rest of the journey. This adventure of Dante’s started the day before good Friday and ends the Wednesday after Easter in the spring of 1300 ("Dante."). This was an important time period because Easter and good Friday is a very religious part of the year for Christians and Dante was one. It seems that Dante at first was active among the exiled White Guelfs in their attempts to seek a military return ("Dante Alighieri | Biography & Facts - Early life and the Vita nuova." ). Evidently Dante grew disillusioned with the other Florentine outcasts, the Ghibellines, and was determined to prove that he was worthy by means of his writings and thus secure his return ("Dante Alighieri | Biography & Facts - Early life and the Vita nuova." ). The main place where he puts his personal experiences in this work is when he talks about the challenging moral and political issues of his day into a suitable ethical and metaphysical framework ("Dante Alighieri | Biography & Facts - Early life and the Vita nuova." ). In the Convivio, Book 1 is the large part with a stirring and systematic defense of the vernacular. (The unfinished De Vulgari eloquentia.)
