What I Already Know There are many injuries that can occur with dance. Any genre can impact any part of the body and damage it. There are many types of injuries. Such as pulling, spraining, tearing, and breaking a bone, ligament or muscle. Every injury comes with a different result depending on how bad the injury is and how fast the recovery is. I learned that there were varies injuries that could happen and different exercises to make them better. There are many statistics that I have learned from my sources. In the article written by Victor K. Lin there is a study that 80% of professional dancer have or will experience a major injury. Ninety-eight percent of dance injuries are reported to be treated successfully (Lin). The four best things to do for an injury is RICE or Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation. If it doesn't heal at least 15-20% it will probably seek medical attention (Lin). I learned that there are many things that could be sprained. For example, I could sprain my ankle, hip or any muscle in your body. In the article written by the Children's Hospital in Colorado they wrote "Acute injuries do occur in dance, but overuse injuries are the most common because of the repetitive nature of training and performance. Overuse injuries can occur in the bone, which leads to stress fractures, or in the tendon, which leads to tendinitis"(Dance). I have learned that when you overwork a muscle it will not get better until it is rested. I have learned that from a personal experiences. In the article written by the better health channel they say "warm up thoroughly before you start dancing and include stretches. This is important in preparing the body for dancing." If you don't warm up the body it can attain many injuries because the muscles are being stretched without being warm.
