During and prior to World War II, women started working besides men because most men’s earning was not enough to run the families who had dependent children and stay-at-home wives. Also, there were a rise in taxes and wages were adjusted for inflation. However, after the war, women started quitting their jobs and again got back to the housewife life. Since World War II, divorce rates have risen. There were new types of families that have come to existence are due to marriage of multicultural couples, remarriages and other categories. It was a big family where all males used to work and females had the job to take care of their children and house. It was like my mother, grandmother, and aunts who used to cook together in our family. All of my cousins went to school together and it was a lot of fun. However, we had to move to a different city because of my father’s job. Thus, we started to live in a nuclear family. My mother was still the person to take care of me and our new house, and my father was the person to earn for our family. In special occasions like marriages and religious holidays, and in vacations like summer vacation, we used to go back and spend time with other family members. Again, my father moved to the United States. After like 18 years, I moved here so it’s now me and my dad is family again and waiting for my mother to join us soon. I have experienced different forms of family throughout my life and can see that people have to move and form different types of families due to the circumstances that come in
