The Cold War was in a state of tension between two of the superpower countries which were the United States and the Soviet Union which is now known as Russia. This happened after the Second World War and the United States and the Soviet Union were fighting about their two different approaches on what to do with Germany after the Second World War (Shmoop Editorial Team). The Soviet Union wanted Germany to be a divided communist country, while the United States and Britain wanted to unite Germany into one democracy. This came to be one of the main causes of the Cold War in which the United States and the British feared that the Soviet Union will influence other communist parties to join them and take over non-communist nations. The Cold War had later solidified between 1947-1948 when the United States under the Marshall Plan sought out to influence other countries in western Europe to capitalism while the Soviet Union had already installed openly communist regimes in eastern Europe (Encyclopaedia Britannica). The Cold War lasted almost 40 years, it ended when the Soviet Union government eventually collapsed (Encyclopaedia Britannica). The English Civil War was a multiple of armed conflicts and political machinations between Parliamentarians and the Royalists over the English’s government. The Parliamentarians opposed the rule of the monarchy and the Royalists supported the monarchy of Charles I and his son, Charles II. The English Civil War happened three times and resulted in England, Scotland, and Ireland among the few countries in Europe without a monarch. The final outcome of the English Civil War was the monarchy being eventually restored but it still only has the consent of Parliament. The result of the Civil Wars to effectively set England and Scotland on course to adopt a parliamentary monarchy form of government.
