Costa Rica-Personal Narrative

I have always loved to travel. I love to just see the world and experience different cultures, but there was one place in specific that I really, really wanted to go to. That place was Samara, Costa Rica. I had been begging my parents to take me there for around a year or even a little longer. We knew some people who had lived there for a while and they just got me hooked on that one little town. I mentioned it every single day. I would even send them links to houses for us to stay in and airfare. I seriously wanted to go. Finally, a year after I had started asking them, they told me that we were going in February for almost two weeks! I was ecstatic! February 16th. My family and our two friends finally arrive at the airport in Liberia, Costa Rica. Our friends who were already in Costa Rica came to the airport and we drove to our house. Two and a half hours away. The next day we woke up and met a lot of people. First, we met the people who worked at the house and they were all really nice. We met Teresa, the housekeeper, and she later told us how she had left her abusive husband with her 4 kids and she was supporting them all by herself. Once she told us this, we decided that we would drive her home each night instead of having her walk two hours and that when we left we would give her all of our leftover food. It helped me see what it’s like to live in a third world country and how even though people are poor, they can be happier than people who are rich. It’s a great example of how you don’t need money to be happy. It also was a great experience to connect with so many different people in a matter of 10 days. If I hadn’t pushed my parents to take us there, I would’ve never had this experience and would have never known just how great it would be. I’m glad that I didn’t just give up on asking them to go, because in the end, it was an amazing experience and really changed me for the
