If you agree that animals should be treated humanely, please raise your hand. Now raise your hand if you have a pet at home? And thirdly, how many of you wear makeup? I’m sure when you're applying your eye makeup you don't think about the rabbits that were blinded to test that exact product to ensure your eyes aren’t harmed in anyway. Now how would it make you feel if I told you that most of the makeup you purchase was first tested on innocent animals? Unlike countries such as India, Israel and Norway where cosmetic testing on animals is banned, unfortunately it still happens here every day in North America.

The reactions drugs may have on an animal’s body is quite different to the reaction of a human. Therefore, animal testing is unreliable. Sometimes more than one prodct is tested on an animal at the same time. This will cause the product to mix and change the results.

Now after making you all listen to those heart breaking facts and stories, I’m sure there are some of you thinking that there are pros and unfortunately cons to testing cosmetics on animals, and sadly you are right
“Rebuttal”:
a) cancer research – even thought my heart is and always will hold a soft sort for animals, I do understand that cancer research is done on animals. With cancer being life threatening
b) protects human health- one may argue that animal testing protects human’s health. Scientists argue that testing cosmetics on animals before presenting them to humans is needed to insure that humans are exposed to products that could be harmful.
C) no other way- many people think there are no alternatives and testing MUST be done, especially when using ingredients that we know have much knowledge on.
