The U.S. Constitution established government and laws, and grant basic rights for its citizens. It was signed on September 17, 1787, by delegates to the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia, while George Washington was president ,The Constitution is still in place today but is it missing anything?What did the constitution accomplish? The Constitution has a basic set of principles ,popular sovereignty, federalism ,separation of powers and checks and balances .Popular Sovereignty which is that people are the source of the government power republicanism. Also the Main things the Constitution is missing was leaving out slavery, but the 13 amendment banned it later. Also the content is loose because it doesn’t directly say who the constitution pertains to as far as race the is important because back during racism was almost as relevant as is today.
Another important part of the constitution is the bill of rights . The purpose of the bill rights is to comprise the first ten amendments to the united states constitution. It contains rights designed to guarantee individual freedom. They also deal with people’s right within court cases , For example , The Roe vs Wade case where Jane Roe was to have an abortion but it was illegal in texas and she felt this law went against her 1,3,4,5,9 amendment;freedom of speech . Later the court ruled that the state cannot restrict an abortion because it was her invading privacy. Another court case is Washington v.Glucksberg, the Supreme Court of the United States held that a right to assistance in committing suicide was not protected by the government Due Process Clause, this case goes against the 1,3,4
