In this book order is shown in the story through the conch. In this part of this text they were trying to find a way so everyone can talk, since everyone was talking all at once. It all became chaotic and they then decided what this quote say, “That’s what this shell’s called. I’ll give the conch to the next person …show more content…
In the story they were arguing on who was going to be chief, and trying to decide who was going to be the leader. Since Jack Isn’t a nice person he was pressuring the others. The text says,“This toy of voting was almost as pleasing as the conch”. This means that saying that the conch was as as pleasing as voting, and voting is a part of have power. My first quote talks about voting and that's a part of having power, and in the second quote ralph says how powerful the conch is. This talks about how they were voting on chief, and screaming on who it was going to be. They were having arguments about it having piggy as chief, but they knew that jack was going to be. The quote says,“ But there was a stillness about Ralph as he sat that marked him out: there was his size, and attractive appearance; and most obscurely, yet most powerfully, there was the conch”. This describes what's happening at that moment about ralph, but it gives evidence about the conch, even though the actions of that quote go to ralph it says how important the conch is. In this text I explained how power is shown through the conch in the evidence I put, which connects to my …show more content…
In this part of the book a choir boy faints, after that jack said “we got to worry about being rescued”, he was more concerned on him being rescued than the boy fainting. Then jack says, “Shut up,” said Ralph absently. He lifted the conch. “Seems to me we ought to have a chief to decide things.” “A chief! A chief!” The point that he was making was we have a chief, and a chief is know for leadership, power, and order. My first piece of evidence is connected to my second quote by someone or something having leadership in the story. In this section the boys call piggy by his name, and piggy is sad that jack told him that name, from that point on they called him that. Jack says, “Better Piggy than Fatty,” he said at last, with the directness of genuine leadership, “and anyway, I’m sorry if you feel like that. Now go back, Piggy, and take names. That’s your job. So long.” He's being picked on by his name, and even though they didn’t want them to know that nickname they now know. When jack said “better than fatty” he felt like if he had leadership, after that he told him to go back to his job. Him saying that made him feel like he had leadership of piggy because he was telling him what to do. This paragraph I show how leadership is shown by the conch. Leadership is a big part in this story because they are stranded in a island, and to manage everyone they need leadership which is shown in the conch, by my two
